A hand-painted lucky monarch butterfly- topped with bits of gold and surrounded by thick paint and etchings. Lots of texture. The sides are painted in a complementary color.
These are small pieces- meant to hang in clusters, nooks, be set on shelves, and act as jewelry for your gallery wall.
I started referring to these as mermaid portals casually, after I painted my first one to style in my own home.
Inspired by classic nautical iconography, wax seals, ceramics, and painted tiles. I love how they look mixed with other styles of art.
All paintings are impressionistic and perfectly imperfect- there may be some texture or metallic accent paint that doesn’t show in the photographs. Each painting is finished with a satin varnish.
Signed on the side and back; the sides are painted to add interest and about 3/4” deep. The wood panel can hang on a nail, or stand alone on a shelf.
